Painting of the Interior, from the Nave to the Pulpit and the Old Transept Organ
Emanuel de Witte (1617–1692) was a draughtsman and painter who belonged to the Dutch School. He painted the Oude Kerk’s interior many times. Unlike other painters of interiors, who were extremely precise in their work, De Witte regularly introduced modifications. For example, as in this painting, he set people in the light to create greater vivacity.
