Volle Band (NL) is an audiovisual performance collective around bicycles. While cycling, the collective explores the urban environment with guerrilla performances. The team consists of sound artist & composer Sjoerd Leijten, visual artist & animator Didier Jansen and psychiatrist Olle Kruijt. For their 2015 performance "Removing the Entrance", they took Germaine Kruip and Will Holder's sound work The Entrance (composition Robert Ashley) as a starting point and added their own sounds to it; they thus 'parasitised' the existing composition. The audience gathered in the High Choir, and could not see, but could hear for themselves, how Full Band cycled through the Oude Kerk, playing the church with their 'sound bicycles', using radio frequencies and samples from the organ. |
