Memorial Plaque for Feike Asma
This plaque commemorates Feike Asma (1912 – 1984), a Dutch organist and composer. During his working days, he was the organist of churches in Leiden, The Hague, and Maassluis. He furthermore gave organ concerts almost daily throughout the country, attracting many visitors. Asma is said to have had his own, immediately recognisable style, characterised by his own interpretation of the piece of music he was playing, with many agogic accents and tempo fluctuations. He was also connected to the Oude Kerk where he participated in the production of the 1969 film ‘Toccata’ by Herman van der Horst, contributing a rendition of Bach's well-known ‘Toccata’ und ‘Fuge F-Dur’ on the Vater/Müller organ.
