Announcement Board
These black announcement boards with gold-painted decoration were used in the eighteenth century to indicate when psalms would be sung during the service. Some of these boards have a kink so that they fit securely around the church’s columns, on which they were hung. The churchgoers could read the relevant psalm number from the small, interchangeable number boards and could sing along from their hymnbooks. Nowadays announcement boards are often digital.
