Bible
At the start of the seventeenth century the States-General commissioned the translation of the Bible into Dutch, so that everyone could study it independently. Known as Statenbijbels, or ‘States Bibles’, they had to be provided with an ‘Acte van Consent’, a certificate of guarantee for authorized translations. This one was signed by J. Plantinus on 12 April 1758 in Amsterdam. The volume was rebound in 1928.
