Baptismal Bowl and Ewer

This silver bowl with ewer from the nineteenth century was used for baptisms in the Oude Kerk. Water was poured from the ewer over the head of the person being baptized, then captured in the bowl. After receiving the sacrament of baptism, people can officially call themselves Christian.
