Vault Disks
In the fifteenth century, vault disks were added at the points where the vault ribs intersect. The Oude Kerk has 63 such disks of varying shapes (circular and semi-circular), sizes and designs, featuring a variety of images, primarily Christian scenes. All of the disks originally featured eight or 16 pointed projections that radiated from them like the rays of the sun.
