Ember Extinguisher
This extinguisher was found on the north side of the Oude Kerk, where until 1960 there were small houses set against the external walls of the Lady Chapel. The houses at Oudekerksplein 3 and 5 stood on the shaded side of the church and were rented out to poor people. Smouldering pieces of coal from the hearth were scooped into the ember extinguisher in order to put them out.
