Baptism Arch
In the Oude Kerk’s nave there is a railed-off section where the sacrament of baptism was administered, known as a ‘baptism garden’ or ‘baptism house’. Nowadays baptism ceremonies are held elsewhere in the church, but the railing that separates the ‘baptism garden’ from the rest of the church is still in place. Above the entrances there were four semicircular brass arches, which in 1842 were replaced by this cast-iron variant. The arches are no longer in place.

Notes

waarschijnlijk had het doophuis oorspronkelijk vier doorgangen waarboven bogen. Waarschijnlijk waren dit koperen bogen die in 1842 werden verkocht. De huidige doopboog is daarna aangeschaft.
