The World After: Conversation Pieces | Hans van Houwelingen: Covid-19, 2020
The Covid-19 virus, which was put into orbit around the earth by the Russian Sputnik satellite in 1957 and recently found its way back through the atmosphere, is immediately relaunched into space. Inspired by the current profusion of fake news, contemporary conspiracy theories and fact-free politics, Hans van Houwelingen finds connections between the Sputnik satellite and the corona virus, astronauts in space suits and Covid-19 patients on respirators. An absurd fantasy, a hoax, or a parody of conspiracy thinking? Do we have to yield to the earth or will it yield to us?
