Bird’s-eye View of Amsterdam with the Oude Kerk
The Oude Kerk and the churchyard are depicted very accurately in this bird’s-eye view by Balthazar Florisz van Berckenrode (1591-1645) from 1625. Besides the Oude Kerk, Van Berckenrode also depicted the Oudezijds Voorburgwal, Warmoesstraat and the Damrak, then still a body of water. Van Berckenrode was a renowned cartographer and surveyor, after whom the Balthasar Floriszstraat in Amsterdam is named. This drawing is a detail from the original drawing.
