Lottery Print

This print was issued for the lottery that was organized in 1558 to finance the heightening of the chancel. Lottery prints were produced to promote lotteries. The Oude Kerk is depicted from the south. To the left stand the coat of arms of Philip II, to the right the arms of Amsterdam. St Nicholas looks out over the Oude Kerk. The area around the church is shown as a building site with carpenters, stonemasons and other workmen. Above the print stands the following text:

'Lottery of the Oude Kerk of Saint Nicholas Within the City of Amsterdam.'
