Lady Chapel with the ‘Death of the Virgin Mary’ Window

by Hermanus Petrus Schouten

This eighteenth-century watercolour by Hermanus Petrus Schouten (1747-1822) shows the Lady Chapel with the 'Death of the Virgin Mary' stained-glass window. Beneath the window stand two gentlemen in conversation about a newly dug grave, while a sumptuously dressed couple wanders through the church arm in arm. Next to the stained-glass window one can see part of another stained-glass window commemorating the city's mayors.
