Bird’s-Eye View of the Oude Kerk

by Cornelis Anthonisz

This oil painting shows Amsterdam from a bird’s-eye perspective. The Oude Kerk stands proud in the middle of the composition. To the left is the Oudezijds Voorburgwal with the Oude Kerk Bridge, whilst in the top right corner one can see boats on the water, as the waters of the River Amstel used to continue as far as the Damrak before it was filled in.
