Communion Dish
Together with the Communion flagon, beakers and plates, this dish forms part of the Communion set, which is used for the celebration of the Lord’s Supper. The bread that symbolizes the body of Christ is served on this dish. The following text is engraved on the central face of the dish:
‘Het zilverwerk ten gebruike bij des Heeren Heilig Avondmaal / is gelegateerd geworden door / Dirk Collaart. / ruim veertig jaren deurwaarder alhier. Overleden den 28 Januarij 1844. in den ouderdom van circa 72 jaren. / en / begraven in deze Kerk.’
‘The silverware for use at the Lord’s Supper / has been bequeathed by / Dirk Collaart. / an usher here for more than forty years. Died 28 January 1844. at the age of circa 72 years. / and / buried in this Church.’
