Hoe ziet de wereld eruit na het coronavirus? Welke vraagstukken en kansen ontstaan er, waar liggen de uitdagingen? In maart 2020 kwam de wereld piepend en krakend tot stilstand. Ook de Oude Kerk moest plotseling haar deuren sluiten. Omdat we onverminderd tijd en ruimte wilden inzetten in opdrachten aan kunstenaars, nodigden we samen met online kunstmagazine Mister Motley zestien kunstenaars uit om te reageren op vragen die de coronacrisis opriep. Hun bijdragen, in de vorm van korte films, werden online gedeeld. Dat najaar waren ze ook in de kerk te zien. Niet als kunstwerken in een traditionele tentoonstelling, maar als onderdeel van een langlopend gesprek tussen de Oude Kerk, de kunstenaars, bezoekers en de rest van de samenleving. De combinatie van onzekerheid en optimisme die de periode van de lockdown kenmerkte, was duidelijk voelbaar in de bijdragen. What will the post-Covid-19 world look like? What challenges and possibilities will it face? What opportunities will arise? In March 2020, the world came to a grinding halt. The Oude Kerk, too, suddenly had to close its doors. Because we wanted to continue to invest time and space in commissioned works of art, the Oude Kerk together with online art magazine Mister Motley invited 16 artists to respond to questions raised by the Covid-19 crisis. Their contributions, in the form of short films, were shared online. That autumn, they were on show in the Oude Kerk as well.
