In de achttiende eeuw was het gebruik van een vuurtest of vuurschaal een slimme manier om warm te blijven. In deze aardewerken schalen werden hete steenkolen uit de haard geschept en vervolgens in een voetenstoof geplaatst om de benen te warmen. Deze vuurschaal is afkomstig uit de collegekamer."

In the eighteenth century the use of a coal pan was a smart way to keep warm. Hot coals from the hearth were scooped into these earthenware coal pans, then transferred to a footwarmer to warm the feet and legs. This coal pan is from the Church Warden's Office."
